Artist Statement
Much of my work focuses on the play of light and color. I use paint and pigment to capture the feeling of energy and transformation.
Painting with encaustic equates with a mysterious alchemy for me. I may have an idea of what I want to achieve but I can never be sure of how I will get there or exactly what I will find. The work I create is contemplative and I hope creates a moment for meditation and mindfullness for the viewer.
My work ranges in size, but the smaller pieces [12x12] are really intended for personal reflection and reverie. With so much distraction and digital noise in the world, coming to a quiet moment and time can bring peace, clarity, and I hope beauty as well.
I am an artist based in New England and my work is included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Encaustic Art. See more of my work here: https://lauragraveline.omeka.net/ Find all my links on Linktree
